I recently completed my teacher training in Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra in Sri Lanka after joining the Hot Lotus community in January. The warm and welcoming Hot Lotus community made me love Yoga even more, so much so I’ve been inspired to teach it.
I was drawn to Yin Yoga because most of my practise is ‘Yang’ aka exercising the muscles and very dynamic. Yin Yoga is slower (but no less difficult!) focusing on the more ‘plastic’ rather than ‘elastic’ parts of our body – joints, tendons, ligaments, fascia etc.
It’s important, especially as we get older, to make sure we’re exercising these parts of our body too. I’m hoping by the time I’m 80 I’m doing the splits and cartwheels all around Stockport!
