In my late teens, a questionable video tape played on an old TV in the spare room, was my first introduction to yoga. I was struggling to find a form of exercise that resonated with me but something about that video made me rewind and play it time and time again. I was drawn to the ritual, the non-competitive nature and really enjoyed being upside down!
I developed an on-off relationship with Yoga for a number of years as I studied, lived in different cities and went travelling but was lucky enough to practice many different styles of Yoga with such a variety of teachers during this time.
I finally settled and found a studio I loved and committed to a regular practice. I found that Yoga helped all areas of my life, from fitness to my mental health to relationships.
I completed my 200-hour YTT at Sampoorna Yoga in Goa, India in 2017 and have since completed training in Yin Yoga with Angela Jervis-Read, Rocket and Patterns with The Yoga People, Awakening Inversions with Patrick Beach and Carling Harps and Anatomy of Movement with Lara Heimann.
I am greatly inspired by nature and water and spend much of the summer teaching paddleboarding and SUP Yoga.
In 2019 I also created Nature Mates – a free monthly walk and talk event to promote the benefits of movement, the great outdoors and good conversation.
I find joy in Yoga, nature, coffee, animals, paddleboarding, a good podcast, travel, south indian food, building community and I still love being upside down!
