Hot Lotus Retreats – Peak District

Peak District

Thursday 26th November, 2020 – Sunday 29th November, 2020

We are excited to be offering a fabulous retreat close to home in the Peak District where you will enjoy breath taking wintry views. Our venue is a beautifully restored cattle shed, but don’t be alarmed it bears no resemblance to a shed anymore! It has been lovingly and tastefully converted into a sumptuous property with every modern amenity and sits within spectacular scenery near to Grindleford in the Peak District.

Less than an hour from Manchester by car and accessible by train its right on our doorstep and yet when you arrive you will instantly feel cut off from the daily hustle and bustle and surrounded by the best nature the UK has to offer.

Our winter retreat will have a festive vibe; you can expect a roaring fire, twinkly fairy lights and alongside our varied programme of yoga and walks we will enjoy comforting and nutritious food along with a glass or two of mulled cider and wine!

The atmosphere will be friendly and informal and is a great opportunity to come with a friend or partner and share the experience together or to meet new friends and like-minded people.

This retreat is perfectly timed at the start of the holiday season and you will leave feeling festive and with a spring in your step and a boost of energy to see you through the frantic month of December.

What can you expect?

With plenty of time to relax in this beautiful setting we will offer a programme of classes, combining energising and invigorating Hot Yoga and Pilates alongside Yin and Yoga Nidra. A highlight of our programme will be our Yin and Sound gong bath on our final morning.

Our classes are suitable for all levels even complete beginners. As with all our retreats you can take part in all the classes or pick and choose, it’s your time so it’s up to you!

Alongside our accommodation there is a second converted shed which is accessible direct from the accommodation on the first floor and within here we have a fabulous place in which to practice. Whilst not as hot as our normal studio this beautiful space will be warm, and you will work up a sweat in some of our energising classes!

Outside of our class schedule we are fortunate enough to have some fabulous walks in the vicinity including Padley Gorge, which is on our doorstep and is a designated Site of Special Scientific interest.

Also, nearby we have the “Edges”; Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt, which offer a spectacular walking route where we can view both the dark and white Peaks.

Food

Our home for the weekend enjoys a fabulous open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area and all our meals will be enjoyed here with a majestic fireplace to keep us warm and toasty.

With our very own resident chef on hand you will enjoy plenty of nutritious, home cooked food using locally sourced produce. All diets will be catered for, whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat eater. We promise you mouth-watering food that won’t leave you feeling bloated but energised and ready to practice!

Whilst we won’t be encouraging drinking to the small hours there will be some festive cheer and our recipe for warmed Spiced Apple punch is a huge hit.

A typical day

Each morning we will start early with a choice of hot drink or fresh detoxing juice and then head into our studio for a revitalising two hours of hot practice to get the day off to a good start. Our morning double class practice will feature either Hot Yoga 26 (classic Bikram), Rocket Yoga or Vinyasa flow alongside some of our fitness inspired classes – Sculpt and Inferno Hot Pilates.

After a leisurely shower and change we will sit down to a healthy but hearty brunch; think of nourishing soups and freshly baked bread, warm tarts and quiches with a variety of salads and accompaniments.

After our meal has settled, we will venture out to enjoy the fabulous countryside. It’s time to get out the hiking boots and wrap up as we enjoy some of the spectacular walks on our doorstep.

Upon our return in the late afternoon we will enjoy a more restorative practice to ease away any aches from our afternoon walks leaving us relaxed and refreshed for our evening meal.

On our final night we will have a celebratory feast which will have a festive feel and an opportunity, if you want to, to put on your glad rags!

Due to our location away from the bright lights of the city, and subject to the weather of course, we hope to enjoy some clear skies and partake in some stargazing. We look forward to huddling around the outdoor firepit and maybe toasting the occasional marshmallow!

This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the few days we have spent together; the friendships formed and reflecting upon the importance of investing time in self-care especially as we enter the crazy Christmas season.
